Lawn Games
The upper lawn will have various lawn games, including everything we need to have a little nostalgic sports day, including sack races, skipping rope races, hula hoops, egg and spoon races, tic tac toe and Kubb.
Ceilidh
We love a ceilidh at any time, but what better time for a ceilidh than a wedding? You don't need any experience or knowledge of how to ceilidh dance, as ceilidhs usually have a caller, and our's will be no different - they'll walk you through each dance. And yes, when lots of people don't know the dance, it often becomes a bit of chaos, but that's all part of the fun! Find out more on our ceilidh page.
Highland Games
During the afternoon drinks reception, get a taste of a quintessential part of a Scottish summer, a Highland Games, with our mini Highland Games. We have a caber toss, sheaf over bar, and welly wanging, as well as some axe throwing.
Dancing
The majority of our reception is going to be a ceilidh, but there will be some more modern/popular music during breaks and for around an hour after the ceilidh. Let us know if you have any requests!
Guest Books
We have a traditional guest book, but we have a few other formats if people want to get a bit more creative. There's a fingerprint tree we'd love you included on, and a video guest book so that you can talk instead of write. We also have more creative projects, like a primary school-style tea towel design, and a guest book quilt. Just add your drawing, or decorate a square!
Books
We have a small selection of books if you need to get away and have some quiet time. They're available in the box with board games in the drawing room and the Amber Room.
Board Games
We have a small selection of board games if you want to do something different than dancing. They're available in the box with board games in the drawing room and the Amber Room.
Quests
Some people like clear instructions for events - we've put some little "challenges" together to give you ideas of how to make the most of the day and try a bit of everything. This isn't for everyone, but if you're not sure what to do next, it might be for you.
Photo Quests
We would love to see our wedding from all different angles, and we'd love to see you celebrating. We welcome all photos. If you want a fun little idea for a photo you could take, pick one of these!
